Getting into great shape is easy in theory. Losing weight, gaining muscle, getting stronger is not complicated at all.
The information is out there, readily available. Just Google fitness and thousands of articles pop up, tips to try and advise on what to do to get into shape. Go to Youtube and type in exercise or fitness and whole list of fitness videos will appear, showing you how to work out every body part you can imagine (bench press for your chest, squats for your legs, curls for your biceps for example), what foods to eat to lose weigh and/or gain muscle. Go to Wal-mart or Target or many retail stores and you can find magazines and books on nutrition, bodybuilding, men's fitness, women's fitness etc.
The information is everywhere and it's free or very cheap in many cases. So, theoretically, everyone should be in great shape, be muscular and have six-pack abs. So, why doesn't everyone? Why doesn't everyone look like a fitness model or action hero movie star?
Why are there so many overweight and obese people walking around?
I'll tell you, because while the information on how to get into shape is available it's not easy to get into shape. It's hard, in fact. There's a difference between knowing what you need to do and “doing” what you need to do.
It's easy to grab a hamburger and fry's at lunch time or on the way home from work. It's hard to eat something healthy (healthy foods cost more usually, don't taste as good and aren't always as quick and convenient to grab).
It's easy to lie in bed, especially when it's cold out. It's easy to sleep. It feels so good to sleep.
It's hard to force yourself up out of that bed and get to the gym to work out. It's hard to push yourself to to one more rep, one more set (it hurts to work out!!). It's hard to run on the treadmill. It's boring and it hurts.
It's easy to buy the latest fitness video you saw on a late night infomercial. It's easy to watch that video while you sit on the couch in your sweats.
It's hard though to actually “do” the exercises on the tv. It's easier to just watch.
If you “could” get into shape by yourself, than why aren't you in shape?
That's where a personal fitness trainer comes in. A good personal trainer pushes you out of your comfort zone. He encourages you, motivates you, to “do” what you know you should do.
So, while having a fitness DVD or book is good, it still cannot replace a good personal trainer. A DVD will not call you on the phone or even knock on your door if you don't watch it. A personal trainer will. A book will not slap that hamburger out of your hand and chastise you for even thinking about eating it. A personal trainer will.
It's not easy to work out and get into shape, but it can be done, even by you. You “can” get into the best shape of your life. You just may need a little help. That's why you need a fitness trainer.
